Amanhã vamos celebrar o Dia dos Namorados aqui no Brasil. Este é um dia que é cheio de idéias divergentes. Algumas pessoas odeiam porque estão solteiras, algumas pessoas adoram porque eles vão fazer algo especial e receber presentes legais, e algumas pessoas odeiam porque elas não têm dinheiro suficiente para dar a alguém o que elas consideram um bom presente.
Tomorrow we celebrate the Valentine’s Day here in Brazil. This is a day that is full of divergent ideas. Some people hate it because they are single, some people love it because they are going to do something special and get cool presents, and some people hate it because they don’t have enough money to give somebody what they think that is a good present.
Mas eu trouxe para você hoje uma lista que eu encontrei na web no ano passado e tinha esquecido que eu tinha. É o que eu chamo de “uma lista de coisas para fazer com alguém que você ama”. E quando eu digo “alguém que você ama”, estou falando não apenas o seu namorado ou namorada, mas também o seu melhor amigo, seu irmão, irmã, avó… Na verdade, esta é uma lista para a vida! Sempre que você ficar entediado ou apenas quando você quer fazer algo diferente, você sempre terá essas idéias.
But I brought to you today a list that I found on the web last year and had forgotten I had it. It is what I call “a list of things to do with someone you love”. And when I say “someone you love”, I’m talking about not just your boyfriend or girlfriend, but also your best friend, your brother, sister, grandma… Actually, this is a list for life! Whenever you get bored or just when you wanna do something different, you’ll always have these ideas.

Então, cabe a você decidir se vai fazer as coisas da lista ou não.
After reading this, you might think I’m a ridiculously silly person. I am, indeed. Some people go for a romantic date, a dinner under the light of candles. But me… I get easily happy with a bar of chocolate, an old movie like the Back to the Future trilogy and a fluffy blanket. Some people save money for months just to take the other person to a fancy restaurant. Others go for picnics with homemade cakes. So, it’s up to you to decide whether you do the things from the list or not.

1. Visite o maior número de pessoas possível em uma noite, e vire de cabeça para baixo quantas coisas você conseguir no apartamento/casa, sem que elas percebam.
Visit as many people as you can in one night, and turn as many things inside their apartment/house upside down as you can, without them noticing.
2. Finjam que vocês não se conhecem, então falem cantadas horríveis um para o outro em um bar chique. Ajam como se tivesse funcionado.
Pretend you’ve never met, then loudly try out lame pickup lines in a swanky bar. Act like they worked.

The most important thing is: do the things that make you feel happy. Get surrounded by the people that make you smile – your friends, parents, your pets – and don’t feel obsessed with the calendar. There shouldn’t be specific days to do special things. So, if you are single, that’s not a problem. Use this time that you would spend being with somebody and invest it in yourself. Do something you’ve always wanted to do: learn to play an instrument, start on a dance class, buy a cooking book and try all the recipes, start writing your ideas on a blog. The fact of being alone shouldn’t be something to let you down. Take your time, sooner or later you’ll find the Right One. Be positive: if you just date anyone, the chances of having silly fights and sleeping with the pillow soaked in tears are bigger than if you had spent your time with doing the things you like.
Eu já namorei diferentes tipos de pessoa. Ter interesses diferentes permite que os dois descubram coisas novas. Coisas que não imaginavam gostar ou fazer. Mas seja cauteloso quando alguém é totalmente diferente de você. Embora algumas pessoas achem que “os opostos se atraem”, você precisa encontrar mais coisas em comum do que diferentes do seu parceiro. Por exemplo, música.
